Ducati XDiavel Launched In India; Price Starts At Rs. 15.87 Lakh

- Ducati offers two variants of the motorcycle - XDiavel and XDiavel S
- It also gets three riding modes - Sport, Touring, and Urban
- The XDiavel gets a Ducati Testastretta DVT 1,262cc engine

Ducati XDiavel S
Ever since Ducati had the brought in the Diavel in 2011, it had termed the motorcycle as a 'power-cruiser'. And the term holds good too. It is a big motorcycle having a Testatretta DVT (Desmodromic Variable Timing) engine which displaces 1,262cc that belts out a maximum of 156bhp at 9,500rpm and develops a peak torque of 129Nm at 5,000rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission with a slipper clutch. The final drive on the XDiavel is via a belt unlike the usual chain, which is a conventional cruiser motorcycle characteristic. The power and torque can be accessed at early RPMs, giving it a solid mid-range that cruiser motorcycles usually possess.

Ducati XDiavel
As mentioned earlier, Ducati offers two variants of the motorcycle - the XDiavel and the XDiavel S and both the motorcycles have the same engine and the specifications. But where they are different is that the XDiavel S will have a full LED lighting cluster along with Bluetooth and an infotainment system (on a motorcycle!) and machined finish on the alloys, engine covers and so on. The XDiavel also comes with the ride-by-wire tech and will have 3 riding modes that are Sport, Touring and Urban. As far as safety is concerned the XDiavel is equipped with cornering ABS, EBD, traction control (Ducati Safety Pack) and the Ducati Power Launch as well. There will be cruise control as well.
A motorcycle enthusiast might raise a query about the differences between the XDiavel and the existing Diavel and whether the XDiavel will replace the Diavel or will both these motorcycles co-exist. We are here with the answers. As far as the question of co-existence goes, internationally, both the motorcycles will be on sale. Therefore, it wouldn't be far-fetched to think that the same will be applicable to India as a market as well. Both the motorcycles have a different engine and specifications. And this table here will make things clearer for you.
| Parametres | Ducati XDiavel | Ducati Diavel |
| Displacement | 1262cc | 1198.4cc |
| Max Power | 156bhp@9,500rpm | 162bhp@9,250rpm |
| Max Torque | 128.9Nm@5,000rpm | 130.5Nm@8,000rpm |
| Final Drive | Belt-Drive | Chain-Drive |
| Kerb Weight | 247kg | 239kg |
The XDiavel is more of a cruiser with the low-end grunt which comes at just 5,000rpm while the Diavel leans towards the sports bike side with more grunt towards the upper limits of the rev-range. The DVT Testatretta engine too has been detuned for the XDiavel from the Diavel. But we will be able to tell you more only after we have ridden the motorcycle, and we cannot wait to ride it.
