Low Cost Honda Two Wheeler All Set To Be Launched

- Details on the upcoming Honda two wheeler will be revealed this evening
- The new offering is expected to target rural markets specifically
- The low cost Honda two wheler could be Honda's most affordable offering
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has sent an invite for its all-new offering that will be launched today - 20th June 2017. Without divulging too many details on its upcoming product, HMSI's invite hints towards a utilitarian offering targeted at rural markets. The invite comes with the tagline 'Bade kaam ke cheez hai' and just might be the bike maker's new low cost two wheeler. Following the launch of its previous all-new motorcycle - 'Africa Twin', Honda has kept details on the upcoming offering well under wraps, which only adds to the curiosity. The official launch event is scheduled for later this evening, so make sure to keep watching this space for complete details.
The next offering from Honda India just might be a new workhorse two wheeler set to address the conditions and demands of the rural market. A segment that is volume friendly and largely driven by Hero MotoCorp, the new offering will help bring substantial volumes for the company. The new low cost Honda two wheeler just might also find buyers overseas in several emerging markets.
With no test mules spotted, it is hard to know what the new offering could be. The last time Honda was so secretive about its offering; we got the Navi moto-scooter, a project completely developed in-house by the manufacturer's Indian team. We presume that the upcoming utility two-wheeler could also be a brainchild of Honda's Indian R&D division and much like the Navi, the upcoming two wheeler is likely to share its underpinnings with an existing Honda product to achieve higher economies of scale. But will see several changes to make it more rugged and certainly more affordable.
The new Honda two wheeler is likely to be the company's most affordable offering in the country, which means prices could be a shade under Rs. 40,000 (ex-showroom). That said, with just hours left for the launch, the curiosity levels are certainly high. So make sure to keep watching this space, as we plan to bring you all the updates 'live' from the launch event, followed by our first ride report.
