- New Honda crossover bike will be based on the 184 cc Honda Hornet 2.0
- Honda's new 184 cc touring crossover bike will cost around Rs. 1.5 lakh
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) will launch its new crossover motorcycle based on the Honda Hornet 2.0 on August 19, 2021. The new bike, likely to be called the Honda NX 200, will not be a hard-core dual-sport or off-road bike like Honda's global CRF range of bikes. It will primarily be a commuter bike, but with more of a crossover, so it is likely to get a more upright riding position, some wind protection for comfortable long rides, and block pattern tyres for taking on rough terrain.

The upcoming bike from Honda is confirmed to be a small-capacity crossover, expected to be based on the 184 cc Honda Hornet 2.0
The Honda NX 200, if it will be called that, will come with somewhat ADV styling, with a face similar to the Honda CB500X, complete with half-fairing and small windscreen. It will get a stepped seat, with pillion comfort kept in mind, and will also come with standard hand guards, as well as more upright riding position. The suspension, wheels and brakes though are expected to be shared with the Hornet 2.0, so the new crossover is not likely be a dual-sport with real off-road capability.

The new Honda crossover will be based on the Honda Hornet 2.0 platform, so it will share the same engine, possibly with the same state of tune. The 184.4 cc, single-cylinder engine of the Hornet 2.0 puts out 17 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 16.1 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm and is paired to a 5-speed gearbox. The engine gets Honda's programmed fuel injection with 8 on-board sensors which constantly inject optimum fuel and air mixture for better efficiency and performance. We can expect the same engine on the Honda NX 200. Prices are expected to be in the region of Rs. 1.5 lakh (Ex-showroom).
