Kawasaki Versys 650 & KLX 110 Launched at Rs. 6.6 Lakh and Rs. 2.65 Lakh, Respectively

Kawasaki has been one of the most popular performance motorcycle brands in India, and currently has the widest range of models compared to its competitors. Now, with the addition of new Kawasaki Versys 650, the motorcycle manufacturer is furthering its position as the leader in its segment.
Coming to the bike itself, the new Kawasaki Versys 650 is widely known for its versatile performance and style. The bike comes with a double pipe diamond frame made from high-tensile steel, long travel upside down telescopic fork suspension at the front and a single offset laydown shock absorber with remote adjustable spring at the rear and a ground clearance of 170mm. While these give the bike its adventurous stance, what adds that addition style are the dual sharp headlamps, long adjustable windscreen, large 21-litre chiselled fuel tank, muscular front fenders and LED tail lamps.

As far as equipment goes, the Kawasaki Versys 650 comes with adjustable handle bars, wide comfortable two-piece seat along with 17-inch alloy wheels shod with 120/17 and 160/60 section tyres at the front and rear respectively. Breaking duties are manned by dual 300mm petal discs with dual-piston calipers at the front and single 250mm petal disc with single piston caliper at the rear. ABS is being offered as standard / Optional.
Coming to the heart of this bike, even its powertrain has been adopted from the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and ER-6N. So you'll find the same 649cc, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC, parallel twin engine that does duty on the latter two. The engine produces a maximum of 68bhp and a peak torque of 64Nm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox and has been re-tuned for better bottom end power delivery as well as more torque in low and mid-revs.

The KLX 110 will be Kawasaki's offering to the hardcore off-road enthusiasts from this part of the world. The bike is powered by a 112cc engine which delivers power to the rear wheel using a four-speed gearbox. The Kawasaki KLX 110 will not be road-legal in the Indian market which makes it usable only on private tracks, or strictly for racing purposes. The automatic clutch of the Kawasaki KLX 110 will make shifting though the gearbox extremely smooth. The bike has been supplemented with drum brakes on both the ends. A price tag of Rs. 2.65 lakh might not make sense to most of the Indian audience, but will surely provide an option to the purists who had been crying foul over no off-road motorcycle available in the Indian market.
In India the market for adventure tourers is still at its nascent stage, especially in the middle weight category. So, the only major completion to the Kawasaki Versys 650 in the country is the DSK Benelli 600GT.
