Yet another prototype model of the upcoming next-generation Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has been spotted testing in India and despite the heavy camouflage, the MPV clearly appears to be almost production-ready. It was just early this month that we shared some images of an Ertiga test mule and its repeated sighting indicates that the MPV is probably nearing completion. As of now, the new-gen Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is expected to be launched by the end of this year or latest by early 2019.

Visually, the India-spec Maruti Suzuki Ertiga will share its styling cues with the Indonesia-spec model and there are several design cues that indicate the same. For instance, the alloy wheels that we see here is the same one that is used in the global model, and similarly, the sweptback headlamps, grille, front bumper, and foglamp enclosure and the ORVMs have also been borrowed from the Indonesian Ertiga.

Assuming that the dimensions will remain similar to the Indonesian-spec Ertiga, the MPV will be longer at 4,395 mm, wider at 1,735 mm, and taller at 1,690 mm. The wheelbase, however, remains unchanged at 2,740 mm while the ground clearance has been reduced to 180 mm.The rear section will come with a new vertically stacked taillamps, the design shape of which can be seen in these spy images, along with the new tailgate and rear bumper.

While we do not get to see the cabin in the new images, based on earlier spy photos, we know that the MPV will come with an all-new, a bit upmarket, interior. The new Ertiga features a two-tone beige-brown interior with a new dashboard with a touchscreen infotainment system, new aircon vents, and a flat-bottom steering wheel with mounted controls. A faux wooden element has been used for styling and there is also a new twin-pot instrument cluster with MID and fabric upholstery. The top features will include - Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, automatic climate control, reverse camera with rear parking sensors, keyless entry, start-stop button, ventilated cup/can holder, USB charging ports, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and multiple storage compartments among others. Dual airbags and ABS will be standard.

Under the hood, the new-gen Ertiga will come with an all-new 1.5-litre petrol engine and this delay is launch could be because Maruti might be working on fine-tuning the motor for the Indian market, in terms of emission and fuel efficiency. The diesel version will continue to use the existing 1.3-litre DDIS engine paired with the SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle from Suzuki) tech. Transmission option will include a 5-speed manual gearbox and possibly even an optional AMT unit considering the growing demand for it.
