Maruti Suzuki's Gujarat Plant Production To Be Partially Impacted Due To Semiconductor Shortage

- Maruti Suzuki produces the Baleno and Swift models at Gujarat plant
- The production will be stopped on August 7, 14, & 21, 2021
- Production lines may reduce from 2-shift to single shift operations
Maruti Suzuki has announced that production at Suzuki Motor Gujarat (SMG) in Gujarat will be impacted this month. The production impact is a result of the semiconductor shortage situation globally, and the company will not carry out production on three Saturdays - August 7, 14, and 21, the company said in a regulatory filing. In addition, some of the production lines may see temporary reduction from two-shift to single shift operations.
Maruti Suzuki also said that "as the situation is dynamic and uncertain, the company will monitor and take a day-to-day decision on models, lines or shifts to optimize resources for maximum efficiency."
