Royal Enfield Super Meteor Leaked In South Pole Expedition Video

- Upcoming Royal Enfield 650 cc cruiser looks almost production ready
- Royal Enfield Super Meteor likely to get several variants, custom options
- Super Meteor based on Royal Enfield 650 Twins platform
Royal Enfield has briefly shown the upcoming Super Meteor in one of the videos released as a build-up for the brand's South Pole expedition. The 650 cc cruiser, based on the Royal Enfield 650 platform, was shown very briefly in the "Team Rider Dean" video in the series of build-up videos Royal Enfield has been releasing on its social media channels as a run up to the South Pole expedition. Although the bikes aren't clearly visible in the video, we can see at least three different variants of the Royal Enfield Super Meteor lurking in the shadows in the foreground. For a closer look, scroll ahead to 0:32 in the video below.

From what we can see, the motorcycles seem to be production-ready, complete with upside down forks, the first on any Royal Enfield, a flat and wide handlebar, retro-styled handlebar grips, as well as a single-pod instrument console, with a smaller dial, which is expected to be the Tripper navigation pod. There are a lot of chrome and brushed aluminium finishes on the details, particularly the headlight bezel, headlight brackets mounting the turn indicators, switch grip panels, as well as bar-end weights.

The video also shows three different bikes, and like the Royal Enfield Meteor 350, the Super Meteor will also likely come in different flavours, as well as the possibility of further personalisation through the Make It Yours configurator. One of the bikes facing the viewer in the video, features a windshield, while the other two don't. Also possible is an accessory luggage mount, and a circular, retro-styled taillamp. The Royal Enfield Super Meteor seems to be near production-ready and will likely be launched sometime in the first quarter of 2022.

The upcoming Royal Enfield 650 cc cruiser will be based on the 650 Twins platform, so it will be powered by the same 648 cc, parallel-twin engine which makes 47 bhp at 7,150 rpm and 52 Nm of peak torque at 5,250 rpm. The Super Meteor is likely to come with alloy wheels shod with tubeless tyres. At the EICMA 2021 show in Milan, Italy, Royal Enfield also showcased the SG650 Concept, based on the same platform. But that is more of a design concept for now, and if at all Royal Enfield extends the platform, the SG 650 Concept will likely be introduced in production form as a different model, sometime in future.
