Tata Motors' Best-Seller, Tiago, Sustains Bullish Spell

Highlights
- Tiago became Tata Motors' best-selling car within the first month
- It registered a month-on-month growth of 27.9 per cent in June, 2016
- Tata will soon launch an AMT version of the Tiago
Tata Tiago was launched here in April, 2016 and quickly went on to become the automaker's best-selling model soon after the fact. Tata Motors has maintained the influx of impressive numbers since; 3,022 units of the Tiago were sold in the first month and the hatchback also clocked over 22,000 bookings within two months. Delving further into the details of the car's success - the homegrown automaker sold 3,287 units of the Tiago in May and 4,205 units in June, which allowed Tata to register a month-on-month growth of 27.9 per cent last month.

Of the several reasons that have contributed to the Tiago's evident success in India, the fact that it indeed is a well-rounded offering is the most important. The hatchback looks set to shake up the entry-level hatchback segment. Tata offers a choice of two engines on the Tiago: a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and a 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel. The petrol puts out 83bhp along with 114Nm of torque, the oil burner develops 67bhp and 140Nm of torque. Both motors get a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. Inside, it gets a height-adjustable driver seat, dual front airbags, first-in-segment smartphone-based Turn-by-Turn navigation app and Juke-Car app among a myriad of other provisions. Tiago's versatility along with its astute pricing has furthered Tata's endeavour to establish itself in this immensely popular segment and grab a respectable share in the market. Other than that, the hatchback will soon receive an AMT version too which should further help its numbers. It must be noted that the AMT gearbox will be offered only with the petrol engine. While the company is yet to announce its launch date, we expect it to be launched in India during the 2016 festive season.
