Two-Wheeler Sales January 2018: TVS Motor Company Sales Grow 31 Per Cent

- TVS two-wheeler grow over 30 per cent
- Motorcycle sales grew 63.7 per cent in January 2018
- Scooter sales grew 22.1 per cent in January
In a statement, TVS Motor Company said the company has sold 2,62,995 two-wheelers in the in January 2018, a growth of 30.1 per cent over the same month a year ago, when the company had sold 2,02,209 two-wheelers in January 2017. In the domestic market alone, TVS sold 2,26,992 units in January 2018, compared to 1,72,101 units in January 2017, a growth of 31.9 per cent. In terms of absolute growth numbers, motorcycles witnessed the most growth, growing by 63.7 per cent with sales increasing from 60,275 units in January 2017 to 98,649 units in January 2018.

TVS scooter sales grew by 22.1 per cent from 70,049 units in January 2017 to 85,521 units in January 2018. Total exports of TVS Motor Company grew by 25.5 per cent from 34,110 units in January 2017 to 42,802 units in January 2018. Two-wheeler exports grew by 19.6 per cent, increasing from 30,108 units in January 2017 to 36,003 units in January 2018.
TVS Motor Company has several new products in the pipeline for 2018, including two new scooters, possibly even a hybrid scooter and a full-electric scooter, as well as a new motorcycle. In 2017, TVS launched the TVS Apache RR 310, the first full-faired sportbike from the Hosur-based two-wheeler manufacturer. The Apache RR 310 has been developed on the common platform TVS has developed with BMW Motorrad. The same platform is also used in the BMW G 310 R, as well as the BMW G 310 GS. In 2018, TVS is expected to launch a range of products, including showcasing several new scooters, including possibly even a 125 cc scooter.
