Two-Wheeler Sales July 2021: Royal Enfield Sees 9% Growth In Overall Sales

Royal Enfield reported total despatches of 44,038 units in July 2021, which is a growth of 9 per cent over 40,334 units sold in July 2020. The company despatched 39,390 units in the domestic market and exported 4,748 units which is a growth of 4 per cent and 97 per cent respectively. So yes, the significant gains in export has helped Royal Enfield register 9 per cent overall growth. The company sold 143,967 units domestically between April-July 2021, which is 55 per cent more than the 92,864 units sold between April-July 2020.

The highlight is that Royal Enfield continues to demonstrate strong growth in overseas markets, as the brand strives to establish leadership position in the global mid-size motorcycle segment. The company's exports grew 400 per cent with 23,711 units exported between April-July 2021 while it was just 4,739 units exported during the same time last year. Royal Enfield's overall July sales stood flat more or less, with just a 2.3 per cent growth over June 2021. The domestic sales in July grew 9.98 per cent over sales in June 2021.

Eicher Motors Limited recently released it integrated annual report for FY2020-21 and Siddhartha Lal, managing director, Eicher Motors said that Royal Enfield is developing a complete range of premium electric vehicles, which are likely to have RE's unmistaken modern classic design. The company plans to bring in customer insight and feedback in developing electric motorcycles. Royal Enfield has a massive market share of 94 per cent in the 250 cc to 750 cc motorcycle segment in India, coupled with a market share of 25.9 per cent market share in 125 cc+ motorcycle segment. The annual report also revealed that Royal Enfield sold 609,403 motorcycles in FY2020-21.
