Volkswagen Developing ID.2 Electric Crossover; To Be Launched Before 2025

- Volkswagen has plans for a huge range of EVs under the ID branding
- Volkswagen has two affordable models in development
- The ID.2 and ID.1 will be also have Skoda and SEAT siblings
Volkswagen is developing a low-cost small ID branded electric car dubbed the ID.2 which will be a small crossover. Volkswagen has plans on developing something even smaller and cheaper that will be a hatchback. AutoExpress is reporting that this electric car will be a replacement for the Volkswagen UP!. Both the small ID.1 hatchback and ID.2 crossover are also expected to be launched before 2025. Even Tesla has plans of developing a hatchback that will cost less than $25,000 and will reportedly launch before 2025 looking at markets like India and China.

The ID.4 is Volkswagen's answer to the Tesla Model Y
The Volkswagen compact EVs will reportedly use a scaled-down version of its MEB platform called MEB entry and are expected to be manufactured at the SEAT plant in Spain. These are could come with relatively small battery packs ranging between 30 kWh 45 kWh giving around 322 kilometres of range and will be priced south of $25,000.
These cars will also get equivalents under the SEAT and Skoda brands manufactured most probably by the same SEAT plant in Spain that's near Barcelona. Volkswagen also has plans of launching a battery manufacturing facility in Spain, that too in Catalonia next to the facility in Barcelona.
