Volvo S90 Cabin Revealed in Video; India Launch in October 2016

Volvo has released a promotional video of its upcoming S90 luxury sedan ahead of the car's showcase at the 2016 Detroit Motor Show in January. The Volvo S90 will make its way to India later too and is likely to go on sale in October 2016.
The new video details the Volvo S90's impressively refined interior cabin. Volvo has continued with the same design language used in the Volvo XC90 SUV, and that's not a bad thing at all.

Features like the beige interior colour trim, wooden panels, the vertical touchscreen infotainment display - with a Bowers & Wilkins sound system, navigation, and climate control - and a 3-spoke multi-functional steering wheel are found in both cars. The S90, however, comes with larger vertical AC vents.
The minimalist design means that there are very few buttons and knobs on the centre console, with the large touchscreen display used for most of the controls. The wood trim makes the cabin even more elegant, and the interior looks like something out of a high-end living room.

Moving on to its exterior, the Volvo S90 comes with a sleek, yet elegant design instead of the slightly chunky and heavy-shouldered look in its current models. Some of the striking features include a stylish headlamp cluster with projector units and Thor's Hammer-style LED DRLs, the signature Volvo grille, large air intakes on both sides, and a wide air dam below the grille.

As far as safety is concerned, the S90 offers some class-leading features that include lane keeping assist and City Safety with large animal detection, which is capable of warning the driver about large animals such as cows, horses, etc. on the road, night or day. The car also offers intuitive warning and brake support to help avoid collisions. Of course, the usual safety features like airbags, ABS, etc. come as standard offerings.

As for the engine, Volvo will be equipping the S90 with the same powertrain in almost all markets - the T8 'Twin Engine' plug-in hybrid with CO2 emissions of 44g/km, along with the usual D4 and D5 diesel engines. As for the India-bound model, the Volvo S90 will feature the same 2-litre diesel engine that powers the new XC90 and the D5 as well.
In India, the Volvo S90 will compete against the likes of BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, Mercedes-Benz E-Class and the upcoming new Jaguar XF.
