Official: Tata Commences Bookings for Zest at Rs 21,000

Tata has been busy setting the stage for the arrival of one of its many bets for resuscitation in the Indian market i.e. the Tata Zest sedan for some time now. The excitement is palpable, as the day of its arrival inches closer and the latest news to come out from the Tata camp is that the company has now started accepting bookings for the sedan. Interested customers can now book the Zest on Tata's official website by paying a token amount of Rs 21,000, which can be paid via different modes of online payment. However, customers will be able to choose only between a petrol or a diesel variant for now; remaining information about the Zest will be provided only after the sedan's official launch.
Tata will offer the Zest with two engine options - 1.2-litre MPFi Turbocharged petrol engine, the Revotron 1.2T and the 1.3-litre multijet diesel motor. The diesel mill is the same as the one that powers the Vista, but what makes it truly special is the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). On the other hand, the 1.2-litre Revtron is Tata's all-new turbocharged small sized engine that, in the company's own words, has been 'designed to deliver superior performance, power, torque and mileage'.
Tata finally seems to have heeded to the much-needed reality check and has been endeavouring to make things right, and the Zest sedan is of paramount importance to the company's recovery. It is a good-looking compact sedan with competent engine options, class-leading features and an impressive cabin. However, it remains to be seen if this upcoming sedan from Tata Motors'stable will set the ball rolling for the company's comeback.
