2016 Kawasaki Ninja 250R Facelift Spied in Indonesia

The Kawasaki Ninja 250R may have set the benchmark in performance over the years, but the competition has certainly arrived with feisty products with better performance to offer. However, the Japanese motorcycle giant isn't a silent spectator in this race and has been working on the updated 2016 Ninja 250R facelift that was recently snapped in Indonesia. While the automaker sells the Ninja 300 in India, the styling and performance upgrades will make it to the bigger model as well.

The bike retains its aggressive looks but with a more contoured design on the fender and mirror caps while the twin headlamp cluster is completely revamped for a sharp new look and is likely to feature LEDs. Furthermore, the side fairing gets upgrades to the design, the split seats are tweaked to merge with the new styling and the exhaust muffler gets a more slender look on the quarter-litre offering.

Talking about performance, it is believed that the 2016 Kawasaki Ninja 250R facelift will get performance upgraded on its 249cc liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder, fuel-injected engine improving the power output from the outgoing 31bhp at 11,000rpm and 21Nm of torque at 10,000rpm. Similar upgrades are expected on the 2016 Ninja 300 as well to its 296cc twin-cylinder motor which is tuned to produce 39bhp at 11,000rpm and develop 27Nm of torque at 10,000rpm. The 6-speed gearbox will continue to serve on both models.

The new 2016 Kawasaki Ninja 250R will compete in Indonesia and other South East Asian markets with the Yamaha R25, KTM RC 250 as well as the upcoming Honda CBR250R. There are also rumours of 250cc, four-cylinder Ninja 250 under development for specific markets, but no confirmation has emerged on the same. The 2016 Kawasaki Ninja 250R facelift is expected to go on sale in Indonesia later this year while the 2016 Ninja 300 could be unveiled towards the end of 2016. An India launch can only be expected in 2017.
