Car Sales September 2019: Mahindra's Domestic Sales Decline By 21%

Home-grown Utility Vehicle manufactures, Mahindra and Mahindra today release its sales numbers for September 2019. The company has registered a total decline of 21 per cent last month with 43,343 units being sold compared to the 55,022 that were sold during the same month in September 2018. The company saw a similar 21 per cent de-growth in the domestic market as well, with 40,692 units being sold in September, against the 51,268 vehicles sold during the same month last year. The company's exports also took a major hit, registering a decline of 29 per cent, at 2651 units, against 3754 units sold in September 2018.
In the Commercial Vehicles segment, Mahindra sold 18,872 last month, against 22,917 vehicles sold in September 2018.
In the Passenger Vehicles segment Mahindra sold 14,333 vehicles in September 2019, compared to 21,411 vehicles in September 2018, while in the Commercial Vehicles segment, the company sold 18,872 last month, against 22,917 vehicles sold in September 2018. In the Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles segment, Mahindra sold 408 vehicles, with a massive decline of 62 per cent, compared to the 1064 units sold last year. The de-growth in the CV segment could be attributed to the changed axel loading norms and the upcoming BS6 transmission deadline.
Commenting on the company's sales performance, Veejay Ram Nakra, Chief of Sales and Marketing, Automotive Division, Mahindra and Mahindra, said, "We are positive that this festive season, with the onset of Navratra, will augur well for us and the automotive industry. This, in addition to factors such as the good monsoon and recently, announced positive government initiatives should help revive the industry in the short term."
