Honda Reports Cumulative Two-Wheeler Sales Of 5 Crore Units

- Honda started operations in 2001, after splitting up with Hero MotoCorp
- Since 2001, Honda has sold over 5 crore two-wheelers in India
- The Honda Activa is India's highest-selling two-wheeler today
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has reported cumulative two-wheeler sales in the domestic market of over 5 crore units since the brand started sales operations in 2001. Honda made its entry into the Indian two-wheeler market with its first two-wheeler, the Honda Activa in 2001. Over the years, the Honda Activa accomplished many milestones and continues to be India's highest-selling scooter. HMSI offers a wide range of models in the scooter and commuter motorcycle line-up catering to a wide range of customers.

In its sixth generation model now, the Honda Activa 6G is India's highest-selling scooter
According to HMSI, the company gained its first 1 crore customers in the initial 11 years. Recording three times growth, the company achieved the 2 crore sales milestone in just three years. The first 2.5 crore customers were added in 16 years, the next 2.5 crore added in just 5 years, with the company breaching 5 crore customer milestone in India.

Speaking on achieving this milestone, Atsushi Ogata, President and CEO, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India, said, "Serving Indian mobility needs for over two decades, we are honoured by the love and trust showcased by 5 crore customers in brand Honda. Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Director, Sales and Marketing, HMSI is optimistic about Honda's prospects in the upcoming festive season.

In 2018, Honda achieved the historic 4 crore sales milestone in India, with exports from India crossing 20 lakh units. India's highest-selling scooter, the Honda Activa breached the 2 crore customer mark the same year while the Honda CB Shine crossed the 70 lakh customers' mark in the same year. Honda's overall two-wheeler sales in 2018 surpassed the 60 lakh mark in a single calendar yer. By 2021, the Honda Activa became the first scooter brand to cross the 2.5 crore customers' in just 20 years.
