Hyundai Ioniq 5 Gets An Impressive 488 Km Range As Per The EPA

- Hyundais flagship EV is launching in the US in winter 2022
- The car has already won plaudits in Asia and Europe
- The South Korean giant is considering launching it in India as well
Hyundai has revealed that the EPA in the US has rated the Ioniq 5 with a range of 488 km ahead of its US launch, but this is for the long-range model. Hyundai has also revealed that the car is also slated to launch in India sometime in the future. It comes with an 800-volt powertrain based on the Hyundai E-GMP platform that also allows for bidirectional charging allowing the user to power other electronics.
It comes in varying trims with RWD and AWD on both battery packs - one being 58 kWh for the standard model and a 72.6 kWh pack, though in the North American market Hyundai is offering an even larger 77.4 kWh battery pack.

Hyundai is studying the feasibility of launching IONIQ 5 EV in India as a niche flagship offering
Deliveries for the car have already started in Korea and Europe and will soon launch in the US. The EPA rating is ratification for the impressive WLTP rating it achieved in Europe as it is more stringent and more in alignment with real-world usage. For the standard model as well the EPA has said that the car gets a decent 412 km range which is more than enough for general use.
"The all-new IONIQ 5, an electric sport utility vehicle (SUV) features a driving range of more than 300 miles, design inspired by Hyundai's '45' EV concept, relevant technology, and best-in-class ultra-fast charging from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes. IONIQ 5 rides on Hyundai's exclusive Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) that allows for more interior space and optimized performance. IONIQ 5 is part of Hyundai Motor Group's plan to introduce 23 BEV models and sell 1 million BEV units worldwide by 2025. IONIQ 5 goes on sale by the end of the year. When equipped with a single motor (2WD), IONIQ 5's maximum EPA estimated driving range on a single charge is 303 miles," said the company.
