Mahindra Imperio Launched: Price in India Starts at Rs. 6.25 lakh

The Mahindra Imperio premium pickup truck is the carmaker's first product for 2016 and the eight one for the 2015-16 fiscal. Essentially a premium facelift of the Mahindra Genio, the Imperio promises to provide a high end product experience in its segment of small commercial vehicles. Moreover, according to Mahindra, the new Imperio premium pick-up truck has been designed to offer best-in-class style, performance and driving comfort.
Compared to the Genio, the Mahindra Imperio comes with betting styling and design cues. The front fascia has been redesigned with a bolder toothed-grille, sharper headlamp cluster with integrated turning lights, and a newly designed front bumper housing a smart pair of circular fog lamps and wide air dam. As for its interiors, the Imperio's cabin is well-designed and comes with a neatly laid-out dash board that features two large AC vents at the centre and Mahindra's signature three-spoke alloy steering wheel.
The new Mahindra Imperio comes with a payload capacity of 1240kg along tubeless tyres wrapped around 16-inch wheels. The pick-up also comes with fuelsmart technology that offers two drive modes - power mode and Eco mode. Other features include bucket seats at front, tilt-adjustable power steering and 2-DIN music system.

Coming to its powertrain, under the hood the new Mahindra Imperio premium pick-up truck is powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder mDI CRDe diesel engine that does duty in the current gen Genio. The engine produces a maximum power output of 75bhp and 220 Nm of peak torque, while it comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Imperio comes with a top speed of 120 kmph and a class-leading fuel efficiency of 13.55 kmpl.
Additionally Mahindra will offer the Imperio in both BS-III and BS-IV options with respective pricing. The single cabin version of BS-III models are priced between Rs. 6.25 lakh to Rs.6.60 lakh, while the BS-IV version will be priced between Rs. 6.40 lakh to Rs. 6.75 lakh (all ex-showroom, Thane). On the other hand the double cabin version's BS-III models are priced between Rs.6.60 lakh to Rs. 7.12 lakh and the BS-IV models will be offered at Rs. 6.75 to Rs. 7.72 lakh (all ex-showroom, Mumbai). In India the Mahindra Imperio will compete with the likes of Isuzu D-Max.
