Maruti Ciaz - More Details Emerge Ahead of Launch

With only few days left for the official launch of the new mid-sized sedan from MSI, the Ciaz, more details have surfaced about the vehicle. Expected to be rolled out in both petrol and diesel variants, the Ciaz range will include four petrol and four diesel variants each. The petrol range includes VXi, VXi +, ZXi and ZXi+ while the diesel range comprise of VDi, VDi+, ZDi and ZDi+.
Power will come from a 1.4 litre K-Series engine employed in petrol variants, the engine is good for a top power of 91bhp while diesel trims will get the 89bhp 1.3 litre multijet diesel powertrain. Both the engines will come mated to a five-speed manual gearbox; however, a four-speed automatic transmission could also be put on offer as an optional provision on select petrol variants.

On the feature front, the entry level models are likely to get projector headlamps, keyless entry, electric-operated wing mirrors with incorporated turn indicators, fabric seats with front and rear armrests, and an audio system with USB, Aux-in and memory card support as standard fitment. Mid level variants on the other hand will get additional features such as driver-only airbag, climate control, Bluetooth functionality, steering mounted controls, reverse parking sensors, and ABS with EBD.

Range topping trims will come incorporated with advanced features such as Smartplay infotainment system, full leather upholstery, leather-wrapped steering wheel and 16-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels. Other features like keyless entry with start/stop button, a front passenger airbag, reverse camera, a mix of fabric and leather upholstery, and 15-inch alloy wheels will also be offered on the high end variants.
Expected to be priced between Rs 7.5 lakh to Rs 10.5 lakh, the sedan will compete with the likes of Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento and Skoda Rapid in its segment.
