Tata Motors Announces Season 2 Of the T1 Prima Truck Championship

Tata Motors today announced season two of the T1 PRIMA truck Racing Championship. Inscribed on the calendars of FIA (Federation Internationale de l'Automobile) and FMSCI (the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India) the championship will be hosted at India's F1 race track - the Buddh International Circuit. The race is scheduled for the 15th of March 2015.
After the response the championship received last year, Tata Motors is looking forward to this season and planning to make it an annual affair. The championship will feature 12 race specced Tata PRIMA trucks which will be driven by international drivers representing six teams - Team Castrol Vecton, Team Cummins, Team Tata Technologies Motorsports, Team Dealer Warriors, Team Dealers Daredevils and Team Allied Partners.
Season 2 of the championship sees some changes as the race truck boasts of 10% increased speed (upto 130 km/h from the previous 116 km/h), 10% increased acceleration and 10% weight reduction, along with a new aerodynamic design.
Tata Motors has also conceptualised and introduced a new strategic driver selection and training program to induct and mould Indian truck drivers for T1's future. R. Ramakrishnan, Senior Vice President (Commercial), Commercial Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors, said that the competition this year will not have an Indian driver, however, this selection and training programme will ensure that there are more Indian drivers behind the wheel of a race truck in the next season.
Mr. Ravi Pisharody, Executive Director, Commercial Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors, said, "As we enter season two, it is in our continuous endeavour to remain the most preferred trucking brand and I wish to thank our sponsors, team of engineers, consultants, organisers, volunteers and, certainly, spectators for creating a big sporting holiday with an unforgettable atmosphere."
