Tata Motors Teases New EV; Debut On April 6

- Tata Motors will unveil a new EV on April 6.
- It's been testing the Tata Nexon EV and Tigor EV long range in India.
- It is also planning to introduce the Tata Altroz and Punch EV.
Tata Motors has dropped a new teaser of its upcoming model which is going to make its India debut on April 6. What's confirmed is that this new model will be an electric vehicle (EV) joining the Tata Nexon EV and Tigor EV in its all-electric range, however, it's yet to share details related to the model. The company has been testing a slew of new EVs including the Tata Nexon EV Extended Range, Tata Altroz EV and even a battery powered derivative of the Tata Punch, which is expected to go on sale this year itself.

Tata Motors is also planning to introduce the new Altroz EV in India.
While the Tata Nexon extended range was expected to go on sale in India in April this year, even the Tata Punch was expected to break cover around the same time and so it is a bit difficult to speculate. The new Tata Punch too shares the ALFA architecture with the Altroz and we already know that the platform is ready for EVs. While it is still early to comment on the technical specification, Tata has already confirmed that all its future electric vehicles will use the Ziptron powertrain technology. So, the car will come with a Lithium-Ion battery pack which will have IP-67 certification and 8-years warranty and will deliver a drive range of above 250 km.

Tata Motors is also planning to introduce an electric derivative if the Punch.
Having said that, if this new model will be the Tata Nexon EV, it will come with a bigger 40 kWh battery pack replacing the 30.2 kWh unit in the current model. The claimed drive range is expected to a bump up of around 100 km with a claimed drive range of over 400 km from 312 km on the existing model, while we can expect a real-world drive range of around 325 km. The new Tata Nexon EV is also expected to be equipped with premium features like ventilated seats and auto-dimming rear view mirrors among others.
