Tata Nexon Interior Snapped; Will be Showcased at Auto Expo 2016

As seen in the pictures, the Tata Nexon's interior takes a bit of inspiration from the Tata Zest, especially the dual-colour tone. While the dashboard's design is a little different, the Nexon uses the same signature three-spoke steering-wheel with new horizontally-profiled AC vents along with an instrument cluster and rotary controls for the HVAC system derived from the Tata Bolt/Tata Zest. What we do not see here is a touchscreen entertainment system and automatic climate control and AMT gearbox and more, which indicates that it is not the top-of-the line variant.

In the last couple of years we have seen the sub-4 metre segment truly become an integral part of the Indian auto sector. Today almost every car manufacturer in India has a sub-compact vehicle in its line-up and the list is only growing. The sub-compact SUV category in particular has largely attracted the Indian masses and Tata Motors plans to tap in this segment with the Nexon sub-compact SUV.

Now if you think back, Tata Motors was practically the first carmaker in India to kick off the trend of sub-4 metre vehicles with the Indigo ES and further perfected it with the Zest. This makes it all the more surprising to see that Tata hasn't come out with its sub-compact SUV yet, even though it has been two years since we first saw the concept at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo.
Coming back to the SUV, the Nexon is claimed to have taken design cues from the Land Rover Evoque, which allows it to boast an aggressive stance along with a premium look. Under the hood, the Nexon will include a new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol or the new all-aluminium Revotron engine along with a 1.3-litre Multijet diesel. Transmission options will comprise a 5-speed manual and the F-Tronic AMT on the diesel, if at all.
