TVS Teases Launch of New Apache RTR 160

TVS Motor Company has teased the launch of the 2018 TVS Apache RTR 160, and as we first reported, the new bike will be launched on March 14. The new-generation TVS Apache RTR 160 is expected to get new features, including updated styling and design. The new generation Apache RTR 160 will take design inspiration from its elder sibling, the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, and it will be the first major upgrade to the first model of the Apache series which was launched more than a decade ago.

Spy shots of the upcoming Apache RTR 160 have already been doing the rounds, which clearly show the same edgy design as the Apache RTR 200 4V. TVS has also released a teaser video, showing a race-spec Apache RTR motorcycle. The race-spec Apache machine has managed to clinch six titles of the Indian Motorcycle Racing Championship (IMRC), and TVS is leveraging that racing DNA to promote the new Apache RTR 160 with the hashtag #BornOfAChampion.

The new generation Apache RTR 160 is expected to get significant updates, including a new chassis, new bodywork and new features. So far, there's no word on any upgrades to the engine, whether it will sport a four-valve format like the Apache 200 4V, but expect some changes to the engine as well, considering the RTR 160 hasn't had any major changes in over a decade. Standard ABS is expected as well on the 2018 TVS Apache RTR 160. Pricing is expected to be in the region of Rs. 80,0000 and the updated Apache RTR 160 will take on updated models from the competition like the Bajaj Pulsar NS160, Suzuki Gixxer and Honda CB Hornet 160.
