Auto Sales August 2022: Mahindra Registers Highest Ever SUV Sales
Mahindra has announced that it saw a 87 per cent year-on-year growth in domestic passenger vehicles (PV) sales in the month of August 2022. The carmaker clocked in total PV sales of 29,852 in the month against 15,973 in the same period last year. SUV sales too were up by 87 per cent from 15,786 in August 2021 to 29,516 units in August 2022. Sales of cars and vans grew 80 per cent year-on-year too, as Mahindra sold 336 units in August 2022 as compared to 187 units in the same time last year. Mahindra registered a 6.4 per cent month-on-month growth in sales, as it sold 29,852 passenger vehicles in the month of August 2022, as opposed to 28,053 passenger vehicles in July.

Mahindra's SUV sales continue to rise as it reported highest ever monthly SUV sales for the second month in a row.
Commenting on the performance, Veejay Nakra, President, Automotive Division, M&M Ltd. Said, “August was a very exciting month with launches across many segments for us. Demand across our portfolio remains strong and is enhanced with blockbuster launches of Scorpio-N, Scorpio Classic and new Bolero MaXX Pik-up. We registered highest ever SUV Volume of 29,516 in August, registering a growth of 87% over August ‘21.”
Mahindra's three wheeler segment grew 85% year-on-year.
Shifting to Mahindra’s commercial vehicles arm, sales of sub 2 tonne light commercial vehicles (LCV) grew 125 per cent from 1,734 units in August 2021 to 3,896 units in August 2022, while sales of LCVs between 2 tonnes to 3.5 tonnes also increased by a notable 157 per cent, going from 6,595 to 16,940. Sales of LCVs above 3.5 tonne and medium and heavy commercial vehicle segments rose by 28 per cent year-on-year, as Mahindra sold 656 units. Three wheeler sales meanwhile also grew 85 per cent to 4,793 units.

The Mahindra Scorpio-N bagged over 1 lakh bookings within the first 30 minutes of bookings opening.

In terms of exports, Mahindra exported 2912 units in the month of August 2022, marking an 8 per cent declines to the figures of August 2021. Mahindra also recently launched the Scorpio-N, and the SUV garnered as many as 1 lakh bookings in the first 30 minutes of bookings opening. The deliveries for the SUV are scheduled to begin in Navratri 2022, and Mahindra plans to deliver 20,000 units of the SUV before the end of this year.
