Auto Sales January 2022: Mahindra Reports 20% Growth In Volume At 46,804 Units

- Mahindra's cumulative passenger vehicle sales stood at 19,964 units
- Mahindra's total commercial vehicle sales reached 23,979 units
- In January 2022, Mahindra also exported 2,861 vehicles from India
The home-grown automaker, Mahindra & Mahindra, has released the monthly sales numbers for January 2022. Last month, the company cumulative sales from passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles and exports stood at 46,804 units. Compared to the 39,149 units sold during the same month in 2021, the company witnessed nearly 20 per cent year-on-year growth. The company saw a similar 20 per cent month-on-month growth compared to the 39,157 vehicles sold in December 2021. This does not include sales from the company tractor and farm equipment sector.

Commenting on the company's sales performance, Veejay Nakra, CEO, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., said "We continued our growth trajectory with an overall growth of 20 per cent in January 2022. Our Commercial Vehicles registered growth across all segments and ended the month with an overall impressive growth of 58 per cent." He further added, "Despite various global supply chain challenges, we fulfilled our commitment of billing the first 14000 XUV700s by January 2022 and have registered close to 1,00,000 bookings since launch, a major milestone in the Indian SUV Industry. We continue to closely monitor the semi-conductor related parts issue and take corrective action as appropriate."

In January 2022, Mahindra's cumulative passenger vehicle sales, which includes utility vehicles, cars and vans, stood at 19,964 units, a decline of 3 per cent compared to the 20,634 units sold during the same month last year. The UV category saw a similar drop of 3 per cent, at 19,848 units, compared to 20,498 vehicles sold in January 2021. At the same time the rest of PV sales, which includes electric vehicles, stood at 116 units, a decline of 15 per cent compared to the 136 units sold in January 2021.

Commercial vehicle sales in January 2022 saw a a growth of nearly 48 per cent
As for commercial vehicles, the company's cumulative sales from light, medium and heavy commercial vehicles stood at 23,979 units, a growth of nearly 48 per cent compared to 16,229 units sold in January 2021. In January 2022, Mahindra also exported 2,861 vehicles from India. Compared to 2,286 vehicles exported during the same month last year, the carmaker witnessed a healthy YoY growth of 25 per cent.
