Girish Wagh To Head Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles Business

- Wagh will work closely with Ravindra Pisharody for a smooth transition
- Pishorady resigned as the head of Tata Motors CV Business last week
- Girish Wagh will also serve as the head of Product Line MHCV
Indian auto giant, Tata Motors has announced the appointment of Girish Wagh as the new 'Head of Commercial Vehicle Business Unit'. Wagh will be stepping into the new post after Ravindra Pisharody resigned from the position last week. Wagh will be taking charge of his new role with immediate effect and will also be a member of the Executive Committee (ExCom). The company also announced that both Pisharody and Wagh will work together for a smooth transition.
Pisharody's exit comes at a crucial junction for Tata Motors, when the company has been through a massive restructuring exercise. The automaker reduced its workforce in the management level by 10-12 per cent, as part of a leaner organisation for more accountability. During this phase, Pisharody is one of the more prominent names to make his exit from the company.
With Wagh moving up the ranks, the 46-year-old mechanical engineer will not only lead the commercial vehicle business at Tata Motors, but will continue to oversee the MHCV product line as part of his responsibilities. Girish Wagh joined the company in 1992 and has been instrumental in the development of products like the Indica, Nano and Ace in the company's line-up. The company also said that a replacement for Wagh as the 'Head of Product Line MHCV' will be announced in due course.
