Kia Sonet Sales Cross 1.5 Lakh Unit Milestone

- Sales milestone reached in a little under 2 years from launch
- Sonet accounts for about 32 per cent of Kia's Sales
- Carmaker seeing good demand for top variants, automatics
Kia India has announced that the Sonet has now crossed the 1.5 lakh unit sales milestone in the country. The subcompact SUV reached the number a little under 2 years since it was launched in September 2020 and about 9 months after having reached the 1 lakh unit milestone. Since its launch Kia has updated its compact SUV every year with the most recent one coming in April this year. Kia says that the Sonet accounts for about 32 per cent of the company's total sales. The SUV was the company's second-best seller behind the Seltos in monthly sales only recently being displaced by the new Carens in 2022.
Commenting on this milestone, Myung-sik Sohn - Chief Sales Officer, Kia India, said, "We are delighted that Sonet has added 1.5 Lakh customers to the Kia India family. Today's evolved urban Indian customer is dynamic, tech-savvy, and bold, and we are incredibly proud to have developed a product that has proven to be the right companion for them.”
Kia launched updated versions of the Seltos and Sonet in April this year.
Kia says that 25 per cent of Sonet buyers have opted for iMT variants with the company also seeing considerable demand for the regular automatics and top variants. The company said the automatic variants constituted about 22 per cent of overall sales while 26 per cent of all Sonets sold were top variants.

Buyers have three engine options to choose from – a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre diesel and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol. The 1.2 petrol comes with a 5-speed manual as standard. The 1.0 turbo-petrol is available with either a 6-speed iMT or 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox while the 1.5 diesel can be had with either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic units.
