Mahindra & Mahindra has issued a recall for around 600 diesel vehicles manufactured at its Nashik facility over suspicion of premature wear of engine parts due to contaminated fuel. The Indian carmaker announced the same through a Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) filing, wherein it stated that the factory had received contaminated fuel on a particular date, which was filled in the select batch that is suspected to cause wear on certain diesel engine parts. The affected vehicles were manufactured at the facility between June 21 to July 2, 2021.

Mahindra has not disclosed details about the models or diesel engines that have been affected by this recall.

In its BSE filing, Mahindra said, "This is a limited batch of less than 600 vehicles manufactured between 21st June to 2nd July 2021 and is keeping in line with the company's customer centric approach. In an endeavor to ensure a hassle-free experience for its customers, the company is proactively carrying out this activity. This action is also in compliance with voluntary code on vehicle recall."

The automaker said in an official statement that it will carry out the inspection and subsequent rectification free of cost. The carmaker will individually contact the affected customers. The company manufactures the Thar, Scorpio, Bolero, Marazzo and the XUV300 at its Nashik facility. Mahindra recently launched the Bolero Neo subcompact SUV in the Indian market with prices starting at Rs. 8.48 lakh.
