Mahindra Thar Crosses 75,000 Bookings Milestone

- The Mahindra Thar had crosses the 55,000 bookings mark in may this year.
- Almost 50 per cent of the overall bookings is accounted to automatic trim
- Petrol variants account for 25 per cent of the overall bookings.
The new-generation Mahindra Thar has been a runaway success for the Indian automaker and the lifestyle SUV has now cross the 75,000 bookings mark. In fact, Mahindra received over 40 per cent of the bookings from the millennial population itself. Almost 50 per cent of the bookings came for automatic variants while the petrol iteration accounted for 25 per cent of the overall bookings. Since its launch on October 2 last year, the Mahindra Thar has become the bestselling four-wheel-drive (4WD) SUV in India and it crossed the 55,000 bookings mark earlier in May this year.

The Mahindra Thar scored a 4-Star rating in global NCAP.
The Mahindra Thar is built on the company's new ladder-on-frame chassis which has made it bigger and more capable than its predecessor. The new Thar is also much safer now having scored a four-star safety rating front the global NCAP. Moreover, the new Thar also comes with a range of creature comforts building up on its lifestyle quotient. It is equipped with features like LED DRLs, alloy wheels, a hard rooftop, automatic climate control, forward-facing rear seats with ISOFIX mounts, and a touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto among others.

The new Mahindra Thar also comes with a range of creature comforts building up on its lifestyle quotient.
The new Thar is offered with two engine options. First up is the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbo petrol motor that belts out 150 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. Then is the 2.2-litre, four-cylinder turbo diesel engine that churns out 130 bhp and 300 Nm of peak torque Both engines are paired with either a six-speed manual gearbox or a six-speed automatic transmission, while 4x4 is standard across the range.
