Maruti's Nexa Surpasses Mahindra And Tata In April-January FY18 Sales

- Nexa brand sold over 2.70 lakh units during the Apr-Jan FY 2018
- Mahindra's sales accounted for less than 2 lakh units in that period
- Tata Motors sold 1.67 lakh units during Apr-Jan FY 2018
Sales of Maruti Suzuki's Nexa branded models have surpassed both Tata Motors and Mahindra between the April 2017 and January 2018 period. The cumulative wholesale figures of all the models sold under the Nexa brand was over 2.70 lakh units during the Apr-Jan FY 2018, compared to Mahindra and Tata Motors, which accounted for less than 2 lakh and 1.67 lakh units respectively. Though technically part of Maruti, Nexa is now the third largest selling car brand in India during the April-January FY 2018, which is in no measure a small feat.
The top spot on the list, however, is taken by none other than Maruti Suzuki India which sold over 10.88 lakh units during the Apr-Jan FY 2018. It was followed by Hyundai India in the second spot which sold over 4.43 lakh units during the same period in this fiscal year.
Commenting on the Nexa brand's performances, R S Kalsi, Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, "Since its launch, Nexa has received an overwhelming response from customers and has done extremely well in its objective of changing the way cars are sold in India. Through Nexa, we offer a unique car buying experience, built on pampering, innovation and technology. With all these initiatives, we are able to attract new categories of customers who were earlier not considering us. We have taken the challenge to create newer segments to fulfil the wishes of our customers."
The Nexa brand was first launched back in May 2015 as a premium retail channel for Maruti Suzuki India. Currently, Maruti has over 200 Nexa touch points across India including sales and services and the company retails four models under its name - the Baleno and Ignis hatchbacks, the Ciaz sedan and the S-Cross crossover. The Baleno RS and the Ciaz S model area also retailed under the Nexa brand.
