Tata Motors Extends COVID-19 Insurance Coverage To Its Dealer Employees

In the wake of the pandemic, Tata Motors has announced that it will extend COVID-19 insurance coverage to its dealer partners and the personnel employed at all its dealerships in India. Although the terms of insurance cover are not clear yet, but Tata Motors joins the ranks of other manufacturers like Volvo Car India and MG Motor India to announce COVID insurance coverage for its dealer partners. Recently, Tata Motors provided 25 Winger-based ambulances to the Health Department of Gujarat as part of a larger order of 115 ambulances.

The Winger ambulances are re equipped with basic life support and will be deployed for the aid of patients in the city. Tata Motors won the bid for the order under the Government e-Marketplace, and the vehicles are designed for patient transport as per AIS 125 Part 1. Tata Motors will phase-wise supply the remaining 90 ambulance shells, as per the contract.

Like we said earlier, Volvo Car India announced a COVID term insurance policy for all the people working at Volvo dealerships in India. The term insurance policy is up to Rs. 10 lakh. The company said it will bear the cost of premium for all employees across 25 dealerships in the country. Under this initiative, in the unlikely and unfortunate event of a dealer employee's demise due to COVID, the employee's family will receive compensation up to Rs. 10 lakh.

Similarly, MG Motor India announced that it will provide additional health cover to its dealer employees against COVID-19 pandemic. Under MG Sewa, its community service program, MG dealers will provide free medical insurance, along with compensation of up to Rs. 6 lakh for a year to the family of an employee, in case he/she dies of COVID-19. This is in addition to the already increased medical cover provided by MG dealers to their employees, which includes hospitalisation support in case of COVID-19.
