TVS Apache RR 310 Race Bike Clocks A 201.2 Kmph Top Speed At TVS Asia One Make Championship In Malay

- The race-spec TVS Apache RR 310 OMC clocked a top speed of 201.2 kmph
- The opening round of the TVS One Make race concluded in Malaysia
- The second round is scheduled in August at the Sugo Circuit in Japan
The first-ever round of the TVS Asia One Make Championship took place this weekend and the homegrown two-wheeler maker's first global championship will see participants ride the Apache RR 310 OMC race bike. Based on the road-going TVS Apache RR 310, the race bike made its debut for the season at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia, clocking a top speed of 201.2 kmph. In the process, it became the first Indian motorcycle to cross the 200 kmph mark at the circuit. Developed by the company's motorsport arm, TVS Racing, the one-make championship will see 16 participants ride the race-spec bikes over four rounds.

Commenting on the achievement, Vimal Sumbly, Head - Premium Business, TVS Motor Company, said, "We are constantly exciting this segment by democratizing racing through initiatives like the TVS One-Make Championship and Apache Racing Experience. These initiatives give enthusiastic riders a platform to hone their skills and prove their mettle. It is also a means for us to push the technological and engineering limits of the TVS Apache series through our "Track to Road" philosophy, thus increasing the performance and fun quotient. The results of these initiatives are visible as TVS Apache has become the fastest growing brand in its segment."

The first round of the one-make championship concluded in Malaysia, while the second round is scheduled in Japan in August 2022
TVS says the Apache RR 310 Asia OMC race bike has been designed and engineered from the ground up. It has received comprehensive upgrades for enhanced racetrack performance. The 312 cc DOHC, four-valve, liquid-cooled engine develops 38 per cent more power than the road-going Apache RR 310s 34 bhp, which should put the output to around 47 bhp. Bringing all that power are the forged pistons, Titanium valves, and HLHD cams. There's a RAM air intake to boost the top speed. The race-spec Apache RR 310 OMC also gets lightweight carbon fibre bodywork, wheels and sub-frame. The suspension set has been upgraded to adjustable units from Ohlins and is custom-built. The bike rides on Dunlop soft compound radial racing tyres.

The first race of the series saw Thai rider Vorapong Malahuan take the win, followed by Indonesia's Decky Tiamo Aldy who recorded the fastest lap time of 2m28.477s. Australian rider Varis Felix Fleming finished third. In Race 2, Malaysian rider Muhammad Fitri Ashraf secured victory, followed by Vorapong and Decky finishing on the podium.

Thai racer Vorapong Malahuan concluded the first round with two podium finishes
The championship also has three Indian riders in the form of KY Ahamed, Deepak Ravikumar and 10-time INMRC winner Jagan Kumar. It was a mixed weekend for the Indian riders with KY Ahamed and Jagan Kumar finishing in the top 10 in both races. However, Deepak Ravikumar met with a crash during Race 2. He will be looking to make a grand comeback in the second round.
The TVS One-Make Championship will now head to the Sugo International Circuit in Japan for the second round with the race scheduled between August 12-14, 2022. The third and final rounds will be held in October and November respectively but the venues are yet to be finalised.
