Key Highlights
- The Dominar 400 is priced at Rs. 1.36 lakh (non-ABS) & Rs. 1.5 lakh (ABS)
- Bajaj will begin the deliveries of the bike from next month
- Bajaj wants 20% segment share with new Dominar 400
Bajaj Auto has a new entrant in the premium cruiser segment - the Bajaj Dominar 400. Launched at Rs. 1.36 lakh for the non-ABS version and Rs. 1.50 lakh for the ABS version, the bike is the most powerful bike from Bajaj yet. Both in terms of pricing and power figures the Dominar 400 sits right in between its naked KTM cousins - the 200 Duke and 390 Duke, and has been marketed as a power cruiser. The arrival of the sports cruiser means big news for those looking at an affordable performance offering and here's all you need to know about the motorcycle.
- In terms of styling, the Bajaj Dominar 400 remains largely similar to the Pulsar CS400 concept that we first saw at the 2014 Auto Expo. That said the bike has changed several nameplate since then like the VS400 and Kratos 400, before Bajaj finally settled on Dominar 400.
- The Bajaj Dominar 400 derives its name from the Spanish language, where it means "to excel or exceed in power". And that is how Bajaj wants to position the Dominar 400, as a a cruiser-sport motorcycle targeted at the ones who seek power with of course some touring comfort.
- Like the Pulsar, Avenger and the more recent V from Bajaj, the Dominar establishes an all-new brand in Bajaj Auto's model range with the company looking to distinguish its flagship product more effectively. In fact, the Dominar 400 is the first model to be built on an assembly-line completely handled by women engineers.
- The Dominar happens to be one of the best looking bikes to come from Bajaj, and will be the company's first model to get a complete LED equipped headlight. The design looks well-sculpted is aggressive and gives the bike a muscular and crouched look.
- The Dominar 400 is also the first Bajaj bike to get an all-digital LCD-instrument cluster that has been updated since the concept version. And going by the spy shots, it will provide the rider with a host of information like - tachometre, odometre, speedometre, fuel gauge, clock, and ABS indicator.

Bajaj Dominar 400 Blue
- Keeping up with the upcoming safety norms for two-wheelers that are applicable from April, 2017; the new Dominar 400 comes with automatic headlamp on, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) and also gets a BSIV compliant engine.
- With respect to power, the Dominar 400 uses a 373.2cc single-cylinder engine. This is the same motor as the KTM Duke 390, but has been re-tuned to produce around 34.5bhp and 35Nm of peak torque. The mill is paired to a 6-speed transmission and gets Bajaj's signature triple spark technology.
- Other mechanical additions on the Bajaj Dominar 400 include telescopic front forks instead of USDs seen on the concept and a monoshock suspension setup at the rear. Braking power will come from the disc brakes at the front and rear with dual channel ABS.
The Dominar 400 Being Rolled Out From the Assembly Line

- Incidentally, the Bajaj Dominar 400 is priced in the vicinity of KTM 200 Duke and uses the engine of the 390 Duke, in a way, rivaling both the bikes. The bike also competes with the likes of Royal Enfield Classic 350, Mahindra Mojo, and Honda CBR250R.
- Deliveries for the Bajaj Dominar 400 are expected to commence from early January across the country. Bookings for the bike have begun online and at dealerships while test rides will become available over the next few days.
