Mahindra Marazzo Launched In India; Prices Start At Rs. 9.9 Lakh

- The Marazzo will only have a 1.5-litre diesel engine to begin with
- The prices start at Rs. 9.9 lakh and go up to Rs. 13.9 lakh (ex-India)
- Mahindra will launch a petrol Marazzo when BS VI norms kick in
The all-new 2018 Mahindra Marazzo MPV has been launched in India today at a starting price of Rs. 9.9 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Currently, the MPV is available in four variants M2, M4, M6, and M8, and the top-of-the-line variant is priced at Rs. 13.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Marazzo is an all-new product from the home-grown automaker and takes on the likes of the segment leader Toyota Innova Crysta and the Tata Hexa. The Mahindra Marazzo mileage is about 17.6 kmpl. Mahindra has invested $200 million towards the design and development of the Marazzo MPV.

The new Mahindra Marazzo is powered by a new 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that has been tuned to offer a maximum of 121 bhp and develops a peak torque of 300 Nm. The engine only comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, and right now, there is no automatic transmission on offer. Mahindra is also working on the petrol engine and an automatic transmission for the Marazzo and could introduce the same when the BS VI emission norms come into effect from April 2020.

(The Mahindra Marazzo gets a well-equipped, upmarket cabin with subtle design and smart features)The Marazzo comes with the largest footprint seen on any Mahindra model yet, and its large dimensions are accentuated with bold exterior features and aggressive styling. The Mahindra Marazzo's styling is touted to be inspired by the Shark and several of the MPV's styling bits have been designed on the same theme. Up front, the MPV comes with a stylish chrome-toothed grille, bold double barrel headlamps with pilot lights, and eye-shaped foglamps with integrated LED daytime running lamps. The MPV also features 17-inch alloy wheels, large ORVMs, and shark-tail-inspired taillamps, connected by a thick chrome slat.

The cabin of the Mahindra Marazzo is offered in both 7-seater and 8-seater layouts, and while the former features captain seat in the middle row, the 8-seater model gets a foldable bench seat with a 40:20:40 split function. The overall cabin design is pretty premium-looking and upmarket, featuring off-white interior with a dual-tone black & off-white dashboard and a glossy centre panel with a multi-pixel design and chrome bezels for the air-con vents.

On the features front, the MPV comes loaded with a touchscreen infotainment system with USB, Bluetooth & AUX-IN connectivity, dual-pod instrument console with a large MID unit. The 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system is one of the most technologically advanced unit we've seen on any Mahindra car till date and it also comes with Android Auto. The Marazzo comes with a roof-mounted air-con system, which comes with what Mahindra claims to be an industry-first surround cool technology. The Marazzo also comes with a new three-spoke steering wheel mounted controls for audio, telephony and cruise control, and an automatic climate control.

Mahindra also plans to export the Marazzo MPV from India to its existing export markets, depending on the demand in the market for such a product.
