Tata Motors Releases A Teaser Video For Its Upcoming EV Concept

- The EV is confirmed to be an SUV, and will be unveiled on April 6, 2022.
- A coupe like roofline hints that this could be the Nexon Coupe EV.
- The car could boast a larger battery pack than the one on the Nexon EV.
Tata Motors has released a brand new teaser video of its upcoming EV concept. The EV had been teased earlier, but not much was clear in the teaser. The automaker later confirmed that this concept was in fact an SUV, ruling out the possibility of the unveil of a much awaited Altroz EV. This still left out the possibilities of a Punch EV, an extended range version of Nexon EV, or even the Sierra EV, but the latest teaser video hints towards something different.

Design elements behind the C pillar look really sharp and aggressive
This debut also comes at the back of the brand registering its highest ever annual sales, and the company also sold 19,106 EVs in the last year - most of any carmaker in India - owing to the success of its accessible models - Nexon EV and Tigor EV.

The light elements also showcase sharp lines

The SUV's tail end gives it a coupe SUV style appearence
One of the more interesting details however, was the rear spoiler, or rather what's underneath it. The rear windscreen appears to be at a significantly acute angle to the rear spoiler, showing a coupe-like roof line on the Electric SUV. This detail suggests that the upcoming EV could very well be the Nexon Coupe EV, but we'll have to wait until its debut on April 6, 2022 to know for sure.

The EV also has some tasteful roof rails running down its coupe style roof line, and the SUV also features wheel covers to reduce drag and increase range, just like many other EVs on sale globally.

The Electric SUV will feature wheel covers that reduce drag and increase range
While little is known about the electric SUV, it could be a model that sits above the Nexon and mark Tata Motors' flagship EV product. The coupe SUV could be smaller in dimensions compared to the Tata Sierra EV concept, but will have a larger battery pack than the one on sale in the Nexon EV. This larger battery pack could also make its way to the compact SUV, as Tata plans to introduce an extended range version of the Nexon EV. Once the concept materializes, the EV could go up against the likes of the facelifted MG ZS EV, and the aged Hyundai Kona EV in the Indian Market.
