- The Benelli TRK 251 is the most expensive in the segment.

At Rs. 2.11 lakh (ex-showroom, India), the Suzuki V-Strom SX undercuts its closest rivals, KTM 250 Adventure and Benelli TRK 251 by some margin. And to add to the fun, we've included the larger Yezdi Adventure, Royal Enfield Himalayan as well as the smaller Hero XPulse 200 4V. Suzuki V-Strom SX Vs KTM 250 Adventure
Possibly the major contender to the Suzuki V-Strom SX in the 250 cc ADV segment, is the KTM 250 Adventure, priced at Rs. 2.35 lakh (ex-showroom, India). However, the extra Rs. 24,000 on the KTM brings you 3.4 bhp more power, 1.8 Nm more torque, a liquid-cooled engine, slipper clutch and a larger fuel tank. However, the 250 Adventure misses out on the connected tech, as the Suzuki V-Strom SX gets the Suzuki Ride Connect app, offering turn-by-turn navigation, incoming call, SMS alert, WhatsApp Alert display and missed call alert among other important features.

Taking styling and engineering cues from the other models in the V-Strom range, the Suzuki V-Strom SX carries on the versatility that the elder siblings are known for. Suzuki says the V-Strom SX is best suited for the daily commute, long highway rides, and rough terrains. The KTM 250 Adventure pumps out 29.6 bhp @ 9,000 rpm and 24 Nm @ 6,000 rpm from its 248.8 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, while the Suzuki V-Strom SX is based on the Suzuki Gixxer 250, and features a 249 cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled single overhead cam (SOHC), four-valve engine, making 26 bhp at 9,300 rpm and 22.2 Nm of peak torque at 7,300 rpm.

The Benelli TRK 251 has a typical adventure-oriented styling, with an upright riding position, 18-litre fuel tank, LED lighting, integrated turn indicators, and the typical ADV-style beak up front, as well as windshield, and a split seat.

The Benelli TRK 251 gets telescopic forks up front getting 135 mm of travel, while the rear monoshock comes with 51 mm of travel. The Suzuki V-Strom SX, on the other hand, relies on telescopic forks at the front providing a 120 mm suspension stroke, while the swingarm type rear suspension features a 7-step adjustable preload.
Suzuki V-Strom SX vs Yezdi Adventure
The Yezdi Adventure is more off-road capable than the V-Strom SX, but it's priced in the same range, so the comparison. With an Rs. 2,000 price difference, the Yezdi Adventure features a larger engine, more power, and better off-road capability. The Yezdi Adventure is equipped with a 334 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine developing 30 bhp @ 8,000 rpm and 29.9 Nm @ 6,500 rpm, paired to a 6-speed gearbox.

The Yezdi Adventure gets telescopic front forks with 200 mm of travel and a monoshock at the rear with 180 mm of travel. The Yezdi also offers three ABS modes - Road, Off-Road, and Rain. Comparatively, the Suzuki V-Strom SX is a crossover at best, a 250 cc premium commuter motorcycle, but with decent ground clearance to take on rough terrain if required. Suspension stroke however, isn't made for hard-core off-road riding.
Suzuki V-Strom SX Vs Royal Enfield Himalayan
From a price perspective, the Suzuki V-Strom SX also takes on the Royal Enfield Himalayan, available in 3 colours - Himalayan Mirage Silver and Gravel Grey, Himalayan Lake Blue and Rock Red, and Himalayan Pine Green and Granite Black priced at Rs. 2.11 lakh, Rs. 2.15 lakh and Rs. 2.18 lakh respectively (ex-showroom, India). If two-wheeled adventures at a budget is what one is looking for, the Hero XPulse 200 4 Valve cannot be ignored. The XPulse 200 4V comes with four-valve technology packing more power than before and gets better cooling, revised gear ratios, and new colour options. It is also the most affordable entry-level ADV in the market, with a price gap of Rs. 79,000 with the V-Strom SX 250. The 199.6 cc single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine gets a four-valve head with 18.8 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 17.35 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. It however, falls short of the V-Strom SX in terms of engine output, and the Suzuki may be better suited for long distance riding. But in pure off-road prowess, it's the XPulse 200 4 Valve which has the advantage.
The Hero XPulse 200 4V gets telescopic forks up front with 190 mm travel, a 10-step adjustable monoshock rear suspension with 170 mm travel, and dual-purpose tyres.
