Tata Nexon Compact SUV to Be Launched by the End of 2016

The Tata Nexon will be the carmaker's entrant for the highly-competitive compact SUV segment in India. Though Tata Motors is yet to make an announcement about its launch in India, reports claim the Tata Nexon launch in India will happen towards the end of 2016. With that being said, the car is expected to make an appearance at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo too.

Tata Nexon, that first made its way to India as a concept at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo, will aim at cars like the Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300 among others. Codenamed Tata X104, the compact SUV will be based on a lightly altered version of the platform that also underpins the Tata Bolt and Zest compact sedan - the X1.
Tata's upcoming compact SUV will take design cues from the Land Rover Evoque to allow it to present an aggressive stance along with a premium look. Inside, expect the 7-seater Tata Nexon to be endowed with a myriad of provisions for comfort, entertainment and connectivity.

The choice of engines on the Tata Nexon will include a new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, turbocharged petrol and a 1.3-litre Multijet diesel. Transmission options will comprise a 5-speed manual and the F-Tronic AMT on the diesel, if at all.

The carmaker has also been working on a new 1.5-litre diesel engine, however it seems unlikely that the aforementioned powertrain will be offered on the Tata Nexon.
