Tata Nexon SUV India Launch: Highlights

The Tata Nexon subcompact SUV has finally gone on sale in India today and we have all the live updates from the launch here. The Nexon has been launched at an introductory price of Rs. 5.85 lakh to Rs. 9.44 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It's the first sub-4 metre SUV from Tata Motors and will compete in the market with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSports. We have already driven the Nexon and bookings has been going on across all authorised dealerships in the country for a token of Rs. 11,000. The Nexon has truly impressed us and courtesy of the popular Impact design philosophy, the SUV comes with a bold design, premium styling and a host of smart features. The Tata Nexon is based on the company's new Impact design philosophy so, it comes with a lot of bold character, premium features and styling. It's the fourth Tata product to be based on the platform after the Tata Tiago, Tigor and the Hexa and similar to the others is expected to be priced quite competitively. The exterior comes with some specific styling elements like white accents for the foglamps, dual tone paint scheme, projector headlamps, LED DRLs, body-coloured door handles and mirrors, 16-inch alloy wheels and much more. The Nexon also gets multi drive modes - Eco, City, and Sport, something that we're familiar with and an all new touchscreen dashtop HD display for infotainment from Harman that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Powertrain wise the Tata Nexon gets a new 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbocharged Revotron petrol motor makes 108 bhp and 170 Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the new 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, joining the Revotorq family, churns out the same 108 bhp but develops 260 Nm of peak torque. Both come mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard.
