Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has issued a recall affecting seven units of the 2020 CBR1000RR-R Fireblade in the country. While the company has not shared an official announcement, it did update the Honda BigWing website with the VIN number of the affected motorcycles. The recall suggests that riding the 2020 Honda CBR1000RR-R in the first gear could prompt the exhaust gas to leak due to overheating and damage the resin hose used for the oil cooler outlet pipe. This could further cause an oil leak, which can spill on the exhaust pipe and the rear tyre, potentially increasing the risk of a crash, injury or fire.

While the recall affects only seven motorcycles in India, the recall in the US affected all 331 units of the 2021 CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SPs built between April 28, 2020, and October 4, 2021. The issue was first reported in the Japanese market, followed by similar cases in Europe and American markets throughout 2021. Honda says that in certain conditions when the bike is ridden behind another vehicle, the exhaust pipe may not get enough airflow to sufficiently cool down. This causes excessive heat buildup, which would eventually melt the resin hose.
