Honda Crosses 1 Crore Sales Milestone In Gujarat, Goa And Maharashtra

- Honda sold 50 lakh two-wheelers in the region in just three years
- Honda has 47 per cent market share in Gujarat, Goa and Maharashtra
- Honda's sales are powered by scooters in the Activa series
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has announced that cumulative sales for the Western region, which includes the states of Gujarat, Goa and Maharashtra, crossed 1 crore units since the company's inception in 2001. According to a statement from HMSI, it took 14 years to reach the first 50 lakh customers in the region, but the next 50 lakh Honda customers were added in just three years. Honda says nearly every second two-wheeler customer in the western region is buying a Honda two-wheeler, with sales being led mainly by Honda scooters.

"Honda family takes pride in welcoming 1 crore valued customers in West and thanks them for trusting Honda for their daily ride. We remain committed to delight our customers through our products & services and wish them the joy of riding a Honda," said Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India.

(HMSI has also updated the Honda Navi for 2018)
According to HMSI, the company has a market share of 47 per cent in the two-wheeler market in the western region. And 45 per cent of customers have bought scooters in Gujarat, Goa and Maharashtra, compared to a 32 per cent average in pan-India. Honda set up its fourth plant in India - which is also the world's largest scooter-only plant - in Vithalpur, Gujarat, in 2016.
The Honda Activa is not only the single largest selling scooter in India, but has time and again also been the largest-selling two-wheeler in the country. Last month, Honda launched the updated versions of the Activa-i, the Activa 125 and the NAVI, and just last week HMSI announced another sales milestone of the Honda NAVI crossing the one lakh mark.
