India-Spec Maruti Suzuki e Vitara Unveiled: Gets Up To 543 Km Range

Maruti Suzuki has officially revealed the India-spec e Vitara, the carmaker’s first EV for India, following its launch in global markets earlier this year. Production for the SUV began in August 2025 at the company’s Hansalpur plant in Gujarat, followed by the start of exports. The model has also been evaluated under Bharat NCAP testing, where it secured a five-star rating for both adult and child occupant protection.

Maruti e Vitara: Variants, Battery Pack and Output

For India, the e Vitara will be offered with the same two battery pack options as the international-spec. This includes a 49 kWh and 61 kWh, across three variants: Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The larger battery is offered on the top two trims, while the Delta comes with the smaller pack and a front-mounted motor producing 142 bhp and 192.5 Nm. The higher-spec makes 172 bhp. The bigger 61 kWh battery is claimed to be good for 543 km (ARAI) on a single charge.

Maruti will also be offering Battery as a Service (BaaS) scheme with the e Vitara, along with subscription plans.

Maruti e Vitara: Bharat NCAP results and Safety Features

In its crash test assessment, the e Vitara scored 31.49 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection and 43 out of 49 points for child protection. Some of the safety features include seven airbags, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold. The SUV also comes equipped with Level 2 ADAS, making it the second Maruti Suzuki model to offer it after the Victoris.

Maruti Suzuki Charging Network

The carmaker has also integrated 2,000 charging points into its existing network in over 1,100 cities. Through the ‘e for me app’, users will be able to locate, book, and pay for both home and public charging. The company aims to set up over 1 lakh public charging stations by 2030.

Maruti e Vitara: Bookings and Launch

Bookings for the e Vitara are expected to commence soon, while the carmaker is expected to announce prices in the first month of the calendar year 2026.

Maruti e Vitara: Exterior

Design-wise, the e Vitara draws heavily from the EVX concept, carrying over its sharp headlamps, Y-shaped DRLs, and prominent cladding on the wheel arches, bumpers, and lower doors. At the rear, it features a connected tail-lamp setup similar to what was showcased on the EVX. The SUV measures 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width and 1,640 mm in height, and has a 5.2-metre turning radius.

Additional design elements include a pronounced bulge over the rear wheel arch and rear door handles positioned on the C-pillar. Colour palette for the e Vitara includes seven monotone colour options along with four dual-tone schemes.

Maruti e Vitara: Interior and Features

Coming to the interior, the e Vitara gets a layout that stands apart from other Maruti models currently on sale in India. The dashboard is dominated by a floating 10.25-inch screen paired with a 10.1-inch digital instrument cluster. It features rectangular AC vents, a two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel, and physical buttons for the climate control.

The equipment list includes keyless entry and push-button start, four speakers, and an auto-dimming interior rear-view mirror. Higher variants build on this with 19-inch alloy wheels, ventilated front seats, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, an Infinity audio system, wireless charging, and front fog lamps.

Maruti e Vitara: Rivals

Once launched, the e Vitara will compete with the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and the Mahindra BE 6. Sales in India will take place through Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa dealership network.

Is Maruti Late To The EV Party?

Maruti Suzuki enters the EV segment at a time when several rivals have already built momentum. Tata Motors and Mahindra lead the pack among Indian brands, while MG and Hyundai have also expanded their presence in the Indian market. It’s worth noting that the e Vitara’s launch has been pushed back from its initial schedule. When it was unveiled at Auto Expo 2025, Maruti’s first EV was expected to arrive by March.
