The electric motor for Hyper EVs focusses on the development of a brand-new electric motor with the highest class in output density. According to Yamaha Motor, the units the electric vehicle will use were developed as "emotional electric engines" that leverage the technologies and engineering sense that Yamaha has accumulated through engine development over the years. Yamaha's casting and machining technologies, as well as adoption of high-efficiency segment conductors have led to the high output of these motors, while being compact in size.

Last year, Yamaha announced that it has developed an electric motor that reaches the industry's highest class in output density. The company had announced in April 2021 that it had developed a unit boasting a maximum output in the 350 kW class which is intended for installation and use in hyper-EVs and other high output applications. The main feature of this electric motor is its compact construction that treats the mechanical and electrical components as a single entity, integrating the gear and inverter into one unit. It was also developed in anticipation of installation and use of multiple units on a single vehicle, Yamaha announced.
