We have already driven the eight-generation Rolls-Royce Phantom and shared our review with you back in October 2017 and we have to say it is a worthy replacement for an already special car and comes 16 years after the last generation.

The Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII is based on the new Architecture of Luxury

The new-generation Rolls-Royce Phantom is based on the company's new aluminium spaceframe platform or as RR called it the 'Architecture of Luxury'. Thanks to the new platform, the generation Phantom is actually 77 mm shorter than the previous car, and yet looking at it you'd think it's just as big. The car is taller by 8 mm and wider by 29 mm though. Visually, the car still carries all the grandeur associated with the brand, in fact, Rolls-Royce has further enhanced with the bigger 24-slat chrome grille, new LED projector headlamps surrounded by LED daytime running lights, smart-looking sculpted lines on the bonnet and from bumper and more. The new Rolls-Royce Phantom comes with a new two-tone shade that enhances the yacht-inspired design of the car, which are further accentuated by the bold alloy wheels and sloping tail that comes with beautiful LED taillamps.

New Rolls-Royce Phantom's cabin is now a lot more technologically sound

Considering it's a Rolls-Royce, the company has made sure that the cabin is equally superior on all fronts. In fact, Rolls Royce claims that the new Phantom is the 'most silent motor car in the world' with 6 mm of two-layered glazing on every window surface around the car and with more than 130 kg of sound insulation. Apart from smart and uber-comfortable seats and upholstery, the cabin is now also a lot more technologically sound. The new Phantom features a completely digital gauge cluster that has multiple customisation options and is complimented well with the huge centrally mounted screen. The infotainment unit uses BMW's basic user interface but has been customised for the Phantom specifically. The new car also gets what RR calls a 'gallery' - a glass-encased space that stretches across the dash from the steering to the passenger side door. This space can be used to display everything from artwork to your personal colour or finish preference, family crest or anything else.

Powering the new Rolls-Royce Phantom VIII is a 6.75-litre a.k.a. the Six and Three Quarter Litre engine that churns out a maximum of 563 bhp and develops a monstrous 900 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed gearbox and the Phantom is still rear wheel drive.
