Highlights

  • Hero Vida VX2 launched in India
  • Prices start at Rs 99,490: Also offered with BaaS model
  • Two battery pack options on offer: 2.2 kwh and 3.4 kWh

Hero MotoCorp’s electric mobility arm, Vida, has finally expanded its offering in the Indian market with the launch of the Vida VX2 electric scooter. The VX2 is essentially a rebadged version of the Vida Z, which was showcased at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo earlier this year. It is available in two variants: Go and Plus, with two battery pack options, 2.2 kWh and 3.4 kWh, priced at Rs 99,490 and Rs 1.10 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom, introductory). Nevertheless, the new Vida model will also be the first from the brand to be offered with the Battery-As-A-Service (BaaS) subscription model. Opting for this, the scooter comes at a starting price of Rs 59,490 (ex-showroom).

Vida VX2 Variants  Full Price (ex-showroom) BaaS price (ex-showroom)
Go  Rs 99,490 Rs 59,490
Plus Rs 109,990  Rs 64,990

In terms of design, the VX2 has a more conservative styling compared to the angular V2 series. Its appearance remains close to the Vida Z, retaining its silhouette and signature LED lighting setup. Moreover, unlike the split-seat design seen on the V2 models, the VX2 features a single-piece stepped seat.

On the feature front, the VX2 Plus gets a 4.3-inch TFT screen while the Go sports a 4.3-inch LCD; both come with smartphone integration, enabling features like turn-by-turn navigation. The Go variant of the VX2 comes with two ride modes, Eco and Ride, while the Plus variant gets the addition of Sport.

Mechanically, the VX2 shares its core platform with the Vida V2 series. Both variants are available with removable battery packs, offering a single 2.2 kWh battery – with 92 km of IDC range – in the base variant and a combined 3.4 kWh capacity – with 142 km of IDC range – through dual batteries in the top variant. Top speed for the base Go is capped at 70 kmph, while the Plus can be pushed to 80 kmph. 0-40 kmph acceleration time for the former is 4.2 seconds, while the latter can do the same sprint in 3.1 seconds. Power comes from a direct-drive permanent magnet motor, which delivers 8.04 bhp.

The Go variant, featuring a 2.2kWh battery, comes with a 33.2-litre underseat storage. The Plus variant’s storage capacity is rated to be 27.2 litres courtesy of dual battery packs.

Hero MotoCorp has so far relied on just one core offering – the V2 series – but this has changed now with the launch of the new Vida electric scooter. The Vida VX2 will go up against the likes of the Bajaj Chetak, Ather 450, TVS iQube, and Ola S1 series.
