Jeep India has finally launched the locally assembled Jeep Wrangler in India. The made-in India model of the Wrangler is aggressively priced at Rs. 53.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The 5-seater off-roader now comes to India as a semi-knocked down (SKD) unit instead of a completely built unit (CBU). The local assembly of the 2021 Jeep Wrangler commenced last month at its Ranjangaon manufacturing facility near Pune in Maharashtra. The company also started accepting pre-bookings for the SUV at the same time.

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler is available in two trims - Unlimited and Rubicon.

The new Wrangler is a part of Fiat Chrysler's expansion plan for the Indian market. The company has invested over $250 million to increase its presence in India with the launch of four new sport-utility vehicles (SUVs) under its Jeep brand over the next two years. While the 2021 Jeep Compass was the first product to roll out of the Ranjangaon plant, and the second product is the new Wrangler. Moreover, the other two products will be a three-row Jeep SUV and next-gen Grand Cherokee.

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler is available in two trims - Unlimited and Rubicon. The locally-produced Wrangler gets signature seven-slat grille with round LED headlamps, fender-mounted side indicators, 18-inch alloy wheels, fog lamps, LED tail lights, tailgate-mounted spare wheel and more. The carmaker also offers the SUV with an option to remove the roof and doors. The SUV will be available in five colours – Black, Firecracker Red, Granite Crystal, Sting Grey and Bright White.

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler gets a significantly updated cabin with the brand's UConnect connected technology.

On the inside, the new Wrangler sports a considerably updated cabin, which now gets a revised dashboard and central console. It also gets an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with UConnect 4C NAV connected technology. Other features include push-button start, dual-zone climate control, premium leather upholstery, passive keyless entry and more. For safety, the Wrangler comes equipped with 60 safety and security features, including electronic stability control, hill start assist, select speed control, electronic roll mitigation, tyre pressure monitoring system, driver and front passenger airbag, supplemented seat-mounted side airbags, front park assist, rearview camera and more.

The 2021 Jeep Wrangler continues to get the 2.0-litre petrol engine.

Under the hood, the 2021 Jeep Wrangler gets the 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The mill is tuned to make 262 bhp of power against a peak torque of 400 Nm, while mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. It comes with a new Selec-Trac full-time 4WD drive system that works in tandem with sensors measuring traction slip.
