Highlights

After the Maruti Suzuki Swift, the Indo-Japanese carmaker has now updated the Maruti Suzuki Dzire with a Bharat Stage VI or BS6 compliant petrol engine and improved safety features. The update Dzire now comes with the same BS6 compliant 1.2-litre K12B petrol engine which has already been introduced in the Baleno facelift, Swift, and Wagon R 1.2, making the 2019 Dzire the fourth BS6 vehicle in the company line-up. Furthermore, both the petrol and diesel versions of the car have been updated to adhere to the more stringent AIS-145 Safety Norms as well. With the new updates, the price of the car has also gone up, and the Dzire now comes at Rs. 5.82 lakh to 9.57 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Maruti Suzuki Dzire existing 1.2-litre petrol engine has now been updated to be BS6 compliant

The BS6 petrol Maruti Suzuki Dzire will be powered by the same 1197 cc, four-cylinder petrol engine that is tuned to churn out 82 bhp and develop 115 Nm of peak torque. The diesel model on the other hand will continue using the BS4 compliant 1.3-litre DDIS motor, that makes 74 bhp and 190 Nm of peak torque. Both engines come mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard, along with an optional Auto Gear Shift (AGS) unit.

As for the safety features, in addition to dual airbags, and ABS with EBD, the 2019 Maruti Suzuki Dzire will now also come with features like seat belt reminder, reverse parking sensors, and a speed alert system as standard fitment. The rest of the features largely remain unchanged.

Maruti Suzuki India is among the first carmakers to introduce BS-6 compliant cars in India way before the official deadline of April 1, 2020. The fact that the carmaker and only updated the 1.2-litre petrol engine is also in line with the phase out all diesel engines in its line-up before the BS6 shift happens.
