General Motors to invest $341 million for diesel engine plant in Poland

General Motors has made a commitment to invest $341 million USD (250 million euros) at the company's manufacturing facility in Tychy, Poland. GM plans to invest the amount in building its new-generation mid-size diesel engines which are expected to arrive later in 2017.

 

The engines will primarily be focused on the Opel and Vauxhall brand of cars in Europe and GM promises that the new family of diesel engines will bring high power and torque density to the table. The engines will comply with the Euro 6 emission standards.

 

The Tychy plant in Poland will see an expansion of 30% as it undergoes a transformation from just an assembly facility to a full-fledged production plant. The complete makeover will be completed by, as early as, 2016 and it is expected the churn out 2 lakh units a year.
