Triumph Street Triple RS To Be Launched In India

The next new model to be launched by Triumph Motorcycles India could very well be the top-of-the-line variant of the Triumph Street Triple, the Triumph Street Triple RS . Triumph has already updated the roadster range with the all-new Street Triple S, which was launched in July 2017. Now, the British manufacturer will extend the range with its range-topping variant, the RS . Triumph India has posted updates on its social media handles, including a tweet which hints at the launch of the Street Triple RS very soon, by October 16.

The RS gets a different state of tune on the 765 cc in-line three engine, which makes 121 bhp at 11,700 rpm and 77 Nm of peak torque at 10,800 rpm. The standard Street Triple S has the same engine but makes 111 bhp of power. Other changes to the RS variant include higher spec suspension (Showa 41 mm upside down forks and fully adjustable Ohlins rear shock), as well as a full-colour TFT instrument panel and a choice of five different riding modes - Road, Rain, Sport, Rider and Track. The standard Street Triple S just gets Road and Rain modes, and Showa suspension both front and rear.

We've already ridden the Triumph Street Triple RS earlier this year in Spain, and have been quite impressed with the bike's performance. The RS variant makes the Triumph Street Triple that much more desirable in terms of higher-spec equipment and even better performance.

The Triumph Street Triple S is priced at Rs. 8.7 lakh (ex-showroom), and the Street Triple RS is expected to be priced just below Rs. 10 lakh (ex-showroom) once it's launched in India. Expect Triumph India to price it aggressively, and a sticker price of around Rs. 9.8 lakh (ex-showroom) could well make the Street Triple RS very competitive in this segment of performance naked roadsters. Once launched, the Triumph Street Triple RS will compete directly against the Kawasaki Z900, boasting of a much lighter kerb weight and near identical power output.
