Highlights

Volkswagen India has received more than 12,000 pre-bookings in India. It was just a few days ago that we told you about the company receiving over 10,000 pre-bookings for the SUV in the country and now that number stands at 12,221. Having received such an interest from the market for a VW car is certainly a big deal, given that price of the SUV begins from Rs. 10.50 lakh in the country. The Taigun has been a much awaited launch from the company in India and is the first SUV based on the highly localised MQB-A0 IN platform.

Speaking with carandbike, Ashish Gupta, Brand Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, said "We have received 12000 bookings as of today, and in fact dealers will start deliveries from today itself. The demand is higher than the production and we will keep the customers informed well in advance about the timelines for delivery of the vehicle."

The top-spec GT variant of the Taigun comes loaded with features

The SUV's top-spec GT variant is loaded with features like LED headlights, LED daytime running lamps, 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, a 10-inch touchscreen display, and a fully digital instrument cluster. On the safety front, the SUV comes with 3-point seatbelts for all passengers, ISOFIX mounts, rear parking camera, ABS, and 6 airbags among others.

Gupta added saying that the bookings are very much in line with VW's production plan, "So far, the bookings are more in line with the production we have planned. There might be some variations coming in with demand coming in for a certain variant, but we have production which is flexible enough to take care of those changes."
