Car Sales August 2021: Kia India Sells 16,750 Units In The Domestic Market
Last month, Kia India sold 16,750 units which include 8,619 units of the Seltos, 7,752 units of the Sonet, and 379 units of the Carnival. The Korean carmaker has registered a decent 54.4 per cent Y-o-Y growth over the same period last year.

Kia India released its monthly sales numbers for August 2021. The South Korean auto manufacturer clocked healthy volumes of 16,750 units last month, registering a Y-o-Y growth of 54.4 per cent compared to 10,824 units sold in the same period in 2020. Compared to 15,016 units sold in July 2021, the company saw an MoM growth of 11.5 per cent. Last month, the Kia Seltos was Kia's best-selling model at 8,619 units, followed by the Sonet, which accounted for 7,752 units. As for the flagship model, the company sold 379 units of the Carnival premium MPV in India.

Kia has registered 55% Y-o-Y sales growth over the same period last year

Commenting on the sales performance, Tae-Jin Park, Executive Director and Chief Sales and Business Strategy Officer, Kia India said, "August was a month of multiple milestones for us and has given healthy sales numbers. Our products have been faring very well. The Carnival, our marquee product in India, has registered its CY 2021 highest retail sales of 537 units this month, reflective of improving customer sentiment in the market. In CY2021, we have sold almost 1.3 lakh vehicles till now, with an average of over 16,000 vehicles per month. With the festive season around the corner, we are anticipating a further rise in this number. To cater to the pent-up and upcoming demand of our vehicles, we are taking appropriate measures to enhance the production output."

The company had also announced prices of the X-Line trims for its Seltos earlier today. The range-topping variant of the compact SUV is priced from Rs. 17.79 lakh, going up to Rs. 18.10 lakh (ex-showroom). These variants are about Rs. 25,000 premium over the regular GTX+ models. The Seltos X-Line gets a host of exterior and interior changes, giving it a meaner and more robust appearance.

Last month, the brand became the fastest carmaker in the country to achieve three lakh units. Additionally, the company has sold over 2 lakh units of the Seltos and 1.5 lakh connected cars in India since it began operations. The brand is looking to achieve the total capacity of its plant in the coming year and targeting a cumulative four lakh sales by January 2022.
